Kalej Valley - Main Attractions

"Rainbow Waterfall"

One of the main attractions of Kalej Valley is the "Rainbow Waterfall" locally know as "Indrani falls". Rainbow Waterfalls is located within 2 km from Kalej Valley tea estate. Other destinations around Kalej Valley are Ghoom, Jorebungalow, Sukhiapokhri, Senchal Forest and Darjeeling. The famous "Senchal Wildlife Sanctuary" is a nearby place of tourist visit from Kalej Valley. Senchal Wildlife Sanctuary is spread over ап area of about 30.6 sq km and its altitude ranges from 4500 ft to 8500 ft. It is home to the some of the rarest species of fauna namely Himalayan Black Deer, Leopard, Himalayan Flying Squirrel, Assam Macaque and many more. Senchal Lake is also worth watching, as it circulates water throughout Darjeeling region.

Tea Garden

Kalej Valley Tea Garden village is located in Jorebunglow Sukiapokhri subdivision of Darjiling district in West Bengal, India. It is situated 7.2km away from sub-district headquarter Sukhiapokhri. Darjiling is the district headquarter of Kalej Valley Tea Garden village.

Mirik Lake

Mirik Lake is one of the most attractive and captivating tourist destinations followed by Darjeeling in West Bengal. It is 1.25 kilometres (0.78 mi) long. There is an 80-foot (24 m) long arch footbridge across the lake called the Indreni Pull.

Sukhiapokhri

Senchal Forest

Senchal Forest / Senchal Wildlife Sanctuary is one of the oldest wildlife sanctuaries in India which cover an area of 38.6 km2 (14.9 sq mi). Senchal Wildlife Sanctuary is located in Darjeeling, West Bengal in an elevation range of approx 4,900 to 8,500 feet.

Tiger Hill

Batasia Loop

The Batasia Loop is a spiral railway created to lower the gradient of ascent of the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway in Darjeeling district of West Bengal, India. At this point, the track spirals around over itself through a tunnel and over a hilltop. It was commissioned in 1919.

Ghoom Monastery

Old Ghoom Monastery is the popular name of Yiga Choeling. The monastery belongs to the Gelukpa or the Yellow Hat sect and is known for its 15 feet (4.6 m)-high statue of the Maitreya Buddha. The external structure of the building was established in 1850.

Rock Garden

The Rock Garden at Chunnu Summer Falls and Ganga Maya Park are recently added tourist attractions in the hilly town of Darjeeling in the state of West Bengal, India. It is a showpiece meant to lure people to Darjeeling after political agitations disrupted tourism in the 1980s.

Darjeeling Mall

The Chowrasta or the Mall is the heart of Darjeeling town. Located on top of Nehru Road, this is a flat open promenade where tourists and locals come to lounge in the sun, take a seat on one of the many benches scattered along the periphery.

Darjeeling Zoo

The Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park, Darjeeling is dedicated to conservation of Wildlife. It started work on captive breeding project of this rare species in the year 1983. It was selected as an ideal site for this captive breeding project.

Ropeway

One of the best ways to experience the panoramic views that Darjeeling is so famous for, is by taking a ride on the ropeway. It's also called the Darjeeling Rangeet Valley Passenger Cable Car because of the spectacular view of the valley around the river Little Rangeet.
